Autism Awareness
Short and sweet for this week's blog.....
As most of you know I am the mother of two Autistic teenage girls. Please join me in celebrating Autism Awareness in the month of October.
I can tell you stories and tell you how hard it is to be an Autism mom. I can tell you stories and tell you how blessed I am.
What I would like to tell you today is that EVERYONE needs to know about this disorder. Why? You may ask. Because these are the next generation of adults and being aware and donating to the cause will hopefully help with housing for these individuals.... NOT when a parent/caregiver passes, but in their lifetime. Where people with Autism can grow and learn life skills and parents and caregivers can visit and also live their own lives.
It is a long way off I think at this time (my personal opinion only). But with money for research and funding for families I hope to see it as a reality in my lifetime!
